"Some stories are meant to be seen in the dark, in a room full of strangers who all jump at the same moment."

Sutudu Cinema is here, and we couldn't be more excited about it. Our tagline is Picture Freedom, and the Sutudu brand stands for creative freedom for independent filmmakers building outside the traditional Hollywood establishment. Sutudu Cinema takes that idea off the screen at home and into a room full of people: in-person art house screenings of independent films, with tickets sold directly on Sutudu.

Our very first film is I Heart Willie, a horror feature from director Alejandro G. Alegre. Its run lands on Halloween weekend at the Sutudu Art House in Jersey City. Tickets are on sale now on Sutudu Cinema.

What Is Sutudu Cinema?

Sutudu Cinema brings independent films to real screens, with in-person art house screenings and tickets sold directly on Sutudu. It's built to connect the Sutudu.TV streaming catalog with theatrical audiences, so filmmakers can pair an in-person premiere with their streaming release, and art house venues can host curated independent programming.

For moviegoers, it's simple. You browse upcoming screenings of independent features, documentaries and shorts. Every screening page lists the showtime in the venue's local time, the venue address and the ticket price. Buy a ticket and your QR code admission arrives by email.

For us, it's personal. Watching a film you love at home is great. Watching it with a crowd that gasps, laughs and screams together is something else entirely, and independent filmmakers deserve that experience as much as anyone.

Meet Our First Film: I Heart Willie

Here's the setup: two YouTubers visit a supposedly haunted property in rural Mexico, where a local legend turns their investigation into a fight for survival.

If you've ever stayed up too late watching paranormal investigation videos, wondering what would happen if the creators actually found something, this one is for you. What starts as content turns into something much harder to walk away from. The film runs 1 hour, 28 minutes and 44 seconds, a lean, tight runtime that's ideal for a late-night screening.

I Heart Willie is directed by Alejandro G. Alegre, and we're proud to have it open the doors of Sutudu Cinema.

Why Halloween Weekend?

Honestly, could there be a better time to watch a haunted-legend story with a crowd? The run spans Thursday, October 29 through Saturday, October 31, 2026, Halloween night itself. There are early evening shows for anyone who likes to get home before midnight, and 11:30 PM screenings on Friday and Saturday for those who'd rather walk out into the dark when the credits roll.

What This Means for Independent Filmmakers

I Heart Willie is the first film, not the last. Sutudu Cinema exists so independent features, documentaries and shorts can find a theatrical audience alongside their streaming life. If you're a filmmaker who wants a premiere night to go with your streaming release, or an art house venue that wants to host curated independent programming, you can contact Sutudu about screening your film.

Every ticket sold for this first run helps prove something we already believe: audiences will show up for independent film when it's easy to find and easy to see.
